Definition of CBT:
CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help clients to deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. Clients are shown how to change their negative patterns to improve the way they feel. CBT deals with current problems, rather than focusing on issues from the past. It looks for practical ways to improve the client’s state of mind.
Definition of iCBT: instructional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
iCBT has been conceived and developed by Dr Gordon F Gatiss. The process and tools have evolved since 2004, changing with new discoveries and knowledge, resulting in a client centred powerful and effective tool for helping people to control their negative thoughts, change their belief system, and eliminate negative behaviours enhancing their lives.

Clients are taught meditation and techniques how to change their negative patterns to improve the way they feel. Unlike CBT, iCBT deals with all issues from the past and the current. It provides structured education and the latest understanding on how the human mind works. It includes unique techniques to control and eliminate negative thoughts, teaching how to reset past traumas, providing guidance to beneficially change behaviour.

iCBT has a foundation of a workbook and 8 questionnaires specially produced by Dr Gordon F Gatiss. Some of these questionnaires are in the format of; a probing question followed by a set series of answers, which are ranked to identify a score to allocate an interpretation of the clients responses. Some questionnaires are simply asking the client to tick an appropriate box in relation to their personal status. The client is also given “homework”, which consists of reading a workbook written by Dr Gordon F Gatiss, and specially formulated exercises developed by the psychotherapist. The exercises are designed to engage the client in thinking about their life-style, beliefs, and behaviour, allowing them to come to their own understanding of the direction of travel they desire their life to follow.
This process has been designed and developed by Mind For Life, where we have been testing and modifying the process and techniques since 2005 with significant success.
